Touching hearts

“We were invited into a woman's home. I sat on her bed and prayed for her friend who had come to visit. I shared a testimony about how God loves me and the woman seemed very touched. She said that she didn't believe anyone loved her. Our translator told us that both women knew about Jesus, but they weren't believers. I shared the gospel with them, and afterwards, we asked them if they believed it was true. Both women said yes and we asked if they wanted to accept God's love and grace for themselves. When they said yes, we stressed that Jesus is the only true God and then we led both women in salvation prayers. We gave them Bibles and prayed for the Holy Spirit to come upon them. Afterwards, both women were so joyful and promised to come to church the next Sunday.” - Priceless DTS, YWAM Perth.

Impacting India

Sorry for the delay in posts!  There have been hundreds of testimonies pouring in from Kolkata, India!  I'll be sure to get some of them up, here. This is one of the latest:

“One day we went to Ultadanga, a slum area near the train station, and started to worship, which quickly drew a crowd. We played music, did a drama and shared the gospel with the people. After, a few of the guys prayed for a lady and she was healed. She then took us outside her home and started telling everyone that prayer in the name of Jesus healed her, and started inviting people to come and get healed. Soon there was a crowd who wanted prayer. A young guy named Vishal had started to translate for us during the open air and continued to help us translate and pray for people. During this time there were heaps of healings, which Vishal witnessed, and after he asked how he could receive Jesus' healing  [in] his life, and know that “Jesus was close to him”. We shared with him and prayed together; he surrendered his heart to Jesus with a huge smile and real hunger to read the Bible, which was given to him by one of the team members.” -  Music DTS, YWAM Perth

Church Growth in Kolkata

After working with two Megacities teams in his region of Kolkata, this youth pastor shared that their church is seeing growth!

“People filled the church today, with many new believers present and in the Sunday school 27 kids were present which was really amazing. In our youth fellowship 8 youths came in search of Jesus. They had many questions and we shared the Gospel with them and we prayed for them. It's really a very good response.” – Local Youth Leader, Kolkata

"During an open air, a girl came up to us with a brochure in her hand, which we had distributed in this area earlier. She wanted prayer for her back pain. As we prayed and some of her pain went away, but we felt God wanted to take all the pain away. So we continued to pray more and she was completely healed. After this we could share our testimonies with her and she decided to give her life to the Lord. She than shared with one of her friends and he gave his life to the Lord as well. The next night, she went to a bible study with her boyfriend, who had chest pain and he got healed, too." - Catherine and Arianne, YP DTS

More testimonies from Kolkata

"We did open air at the train station which is only a walking distance from here. After the open air we gave tracks away. While doing this one girl started to read the track and came running after us, saying she wants a bible and she wants to know more. We invited her to the house to share more with her and than asked her if she would like to give her heart to Jesus. She said “Yes”. That day we saw about 5 people came to know The Lord.” – Sala, Crossroad DTS

First fruits of Kolkata

Here are some of the freshest testimonies to come out of Kolkata. Megacities has begun and God is hard at work!!

"We went into a slum area with some local people as translators to look for sick people. We didn't have to look far! As soon as we sat down at one person's house many sick people came to us. Ten people gave their lives to Jesus and eight of them were instantly healed!"

"One of our translators had been open with us earlier that day saying, "There are 1,000 reasons why God cannot exist". Throughout our mobile clinic he was translating the Gospel for us and watching as miracles happened right in front of his eyes. As more people received healing, he said, "Your prayers really work!" At the end of our ministry time, he decided to give his life to Jesus as well, and as we left he told us, "I have changed my mind, I know now that there are 10,000 reasons why God is real."

Trafficking prevention in Nepal & India

Our anti-trafficking and prostitution ministry here in YWAM Perth, called Priceless, just finished a 5 week outreach to Nepal and India.  Their focus was on human trafficking prevention through education of individuals, churches and organizations.  In just 5 weeks they were able to teach and share the gospel to over 1600 people!  This trip was also strategic in setting up further opportunities for outreach next year in our next Megacities focus: Kolkata!
